Raise money and have a great time!

It’s time to get ready for Climbathon!! We made the difficult decision to reschedule it from it’s regular December date due to Hurricane Helene, but we are back and ready to go!!

Climbathon involves students and staff raising money and then celebrating with an in-person event on Friday, March 7th at Center 45 - Boone's local climbing gym. There will be an optional lock in where students will be able to spend the night at Center 45. This is a great opportunity for students to help raise money for Mountain Alliance and have fun doing it! There is no entrance fee, but we ask that you either try to raise money or give a donation at the door. We are asking that students sell raffle tickets or get donations from sponsors to help raise money - the more raffle tickets you sell/ money you raise, the more prizes you will receive.

What you need to know:

  • Who: YOU and all of your friends!

  • What: Climbing, Food, Corn Hole, 9-Square, Prizes, Lock In, More!

  • When: Friday, March 7th

Lock In Option! There is no extra fee to spend the night at Center 45! Students who are not spending the night are asked to be picked up by midnight. If you spend the night, we will provide breakfast the following morning. Everyone spending the night MUST have a Mountain Alliance registration filled out. We need to know who is spending the night ahead of time.

Food: We will provide food and snacks throughout the evening as well as a light breakfast for those spending the night!

Raising Money

The Mountain Alliance Climbathon is our annual student fundraiser. MA offers experiential education in the form of service, adventure, and leadership programming as well as an after school tutoring and mentoring program (and most of this is free)! We are asking that you help us continue to make these programs happen by participating in this fundraiser.  Students will sell raffle tickets and/or seek out sponsors to raise money as a part of Climbathon. We are still solidifying all of our prizes, but previous raffle prizes include: paintings, gift cards from local businesses/restaurants, MA gear, tickets to the Schaefer Center, High Gravity Adventure passes, and more! Tickets are $5 each.

How to fundraise online:

  1. Send donors to THIS PAGE (www.mountainalliance.org/climbathon)

  2. Tell them to choose “I’m donating on behalf of a student…” or “I’m donating on behalf of a staff or volunteer…” (whichever applies to you)

  3. Tell them to write your name in the comments option so we know it is for you!

  4. Sponsors choose how much to donate and receive 1 raffle ticket for every $5 donated

  5. Share with everyone you know! If you would like a customized email that you can send out to people, reach out to Rachel at Rachel@mountainalliance.org and she can help you make one!

How to sell physical raffle tickets*:

  1. Make a list of the businesses, family, and friends you can approach.

  2. Tell them about Mountain Alliance and ask if they would like to buy a raffle ticket or donate to your fundraiser.

  3. Leave the “big portion” of the ticket with the purchaser as a sort of receipt and write in the number of tickets bought rather than giving them that number of tickets (i.e. if they buy four tickets, you give them one physical ticket with the number 4 written in the circle).

    1. Write their name, phone number, email, number of tickets, and amount paid on the “small portion” of the ticket.

  4. Collect the money (checks should be made out to Mountain Alliance)

  5. Turn in all money (along with the “small portion” of the ticket) to MA by the day of Climbathon – turning in money as you go is VERY helpful to us!

*The physical tickets can be picked up in the Mountain Alliance space at your school. THE WINTER WEATHER HAS PREVENTED US FROM CREATING THESE, BUT WE WILL HAVE THEM READY SHORTLY AFTER WE RETURN TO SCHOOL!!

Raise as much money as you can! The more you raise, the more prizes you get and the more money that will go towards awesome MA programming.

How to ask:

Hi! I am involved with Mountain Alliance, a non-profit that provides FREE service, adventure, and leadership trips after school and on the weekend as well as an awesome after school tutoring/mentor program. MA provides teens with opportunities to explore this beautiful area and give back to the community. [Insert your own experiences]. We are having our annual Climbathon fundraiser, in which students are responsible for raising money and I was wondering if you would be willing to support me in doing so. If you would like more information, you can call or text 828-263-1770, visit www.MountainAlliance.org, or email Rachel@MountainAlliance.org. Thanks for your support!
